If the government's aim is to have prospective medicine and law graduands with excellent command of English, then increasing MUET's requirement is very much understood.
But I genuinely believe that is not the idea.
The ultimate aim surely must be to empower English among all Malaysian students irrespective of their courses.
Thus increasing MUET's requirement does not at all tackle the low grasp of English issue.
Exam or marking is merely to rate students at the end part of the learning process.
How do you expect their English will improve, that they will achieve Band 5 when the standard of English learning process itself is low?
Improve the training ground, then only will you get great results.
Or perhaps diminish the marking standard to alleviate number of better graders?
